contact@fluxoreader.comFrequently asked questions
Do I need a FreshRSS server?
No. Fluxo Reader works in two ways, connected to your FreshRSS instance, the free, self-hosted RSS aggregator, or locally, with no server at all. Locally, Fluxo Reader fetches your feeds itself and syncs your subscriptions and reading states through iCloud.
How do I connect my FreshRSS account?
In FreshRSS, open Administration > Authentication and check “Allow API access”. Then, in Configuration > Profile, set an API password.
In Fluxo Reader, enter the HTTPS address of your instance (including any subfolder), your username and that API password.
Signing in fails. What should I check?
Make sure the address starts with https://, that API access is turned on and that you’re using the API password, which is different from your account password. Fluxo Reader only accepts HTTPS connections.
How do I add feeds in local mode?
Open the Sources tab, tap “+”, then “New RSS Feed”. A site address is enough, and Fluxo Reader finds the RSS, Atom or JSON feeds it announces, along with neighbouring sections. You can also import your subscriptions from an OPML file.
What syncs through iCloud in local mode?
iCloud sync is part of Fluxo Reader Pro. It shares your subscriptions, your categories and, for each article, its state (read, starred). An article marked as read on one device is read on the others, and a starred article is never lost, even if the feed no longer offers it. Smart folders and settings also sync through iCloud in both modes. Without Fluxo Reader Pro, everything stays on the device.
Can I switch from FreshRSS to local feeds, or the other way?
Yes, from Settings > Account. Your FreshRSS subscriptions become local subscriptions, synced through iCloud. The FreshRSS reading history isn’t carried over. To go back to FreshRSS, choose “Use FreshRSS” in the same place.
What are unread cards?
It’s a quick way to triage your unread. Each article appears as a card, with its image and excerpt. Swipe left to mark it read, right to keep it starred, up or tap the card to open it. An Undo button brings back the last card. Turn them on in Settings > Reading, or from the button at the top of a list.
Why don’t new articles arrive in the background?
iOS decides when background refreshes run, based on your usage, battery and the Background App Refresh setting. Opening the app always starts a sync.
How do I use summaries and translation?
Apple Intelligence runs on the device, on compatible models. You can also choose OpenAI, Claude, Gemini or Mistral in Settings > AI provider, with your own API key. Fluxo Reader asks for your permission before sending anything.
Are more feed services planned?
Yes. FreshRSS and local feeds are available today, and support for other solutions is planned. Every new addition will be announced with app updates.
Is Fluxo Reader free?
Yes. Reading, sync with FreshRSS, local feeds, source management, unread cards, offline reading and notifications are free. Fluxo Reader Pro ($9.99, one-time purchase) adds AI summaries, translations and digests, unlimited smart folders, every widget, extended history and iCloud sync.
Does my purchase work on my other devices?
Yes. Fluxo Reader Pro works on iPhone, iPad and Mac with the same Apple Account, and for the members of your Family Sharing group.
How do I restore my purchase?
In Settings > Fluxo Reader Pro, tap “Restore Purchases”. On Mac, the button is in the Fluxo Reader Pro tab of Settings.
Is my data collected?
No. Fluxo Reader collects nothing. All the details are in the privacy policy.
